Pest
Rid has been established for over 30 years and during that time the acreage we
shoot has grown steadily to include over 50 farms covering over 20000 acres of arable land.
Interspersed with mixed woodland and crops of peas, beans, linseed, and
oil seed rape these provide the perfect holding and feeding area for
woodpigeons and offer some of the best woodpigeon shooting in the
country.
We now find ourselves needing to expand our
membership to supply the woodpigeon shooting service the farmers have come to
expect.
The mainstay of our
winter shooting is oilseed rape, approx 2500 acres this time which is
going to be impossible to cover with our present level of membership.
There are also large amounts of spring rape, peas and beans to move onto
when the rape has finished.
Shooting Area
All our pigeon
shooting is in the counties of North and East Yorkshire, stretching from
Selby, to York, Malton,Pickering,Driffield to Scarborough, most places are within a 45
minute drive from Leeds.
Cost
New members pay a first year subscription
fee of £130.
From then on the
yearly subscription is only £90,that entitles members to shoot every day
of the year if they wish.
Insurance
Our cover is through the B.A.S.C
all members must be insured, and done through Pest Rid this will cost £56
for the year.
Going to shoot
A spring and winter crop list will be sent to each member every year detailing which
farms we are shooting over and on which fields the crops that concern us
are in.
Members have to book out before going to shoot, which means ringing the
given number between 7-00pm and 8-00pm on Monday/Wednesday or Friday
Evening.
Members can be assured that when they book an area they will be the only
ones sent there.
On returning home a member would again ring in with
details of the day to further enhance the pigeon outlook and to pass on
any further help to other members.
We also have the facility for junior members (under sixteen) at £50 per
year, junior members must be accompanied by an adult member.
All in all an extremely good value for money package with shooting
available every day of the year, no restriction is placed on the frequency
with which you go to shoot.
Those new to the sport of woodpigeon shooting are just as welcome as
experienced guns, we all learn as we go along and once you have shot your
first few pigeons I am sure you will be hooked like the rest of us.
